What are good essay ideas?? Are celebrities okay?

<p>The hardest part for me is thinking of ideas for the essay. I usually tend to use historical/book based ones, usually Brave New World and something else. A few questions:</p>

<li>Is it okay to use celebrities/movies/pop culture?</li>
<li>Is it better to use multiple general ideas, or one specific ones?</li>
</ul>

<p>Also, what are good topics for these prompts?</p>

<ul>
<li>Should heroes be defined as people who say what they think when we ourselves lack the courage to say it?</li>
<li>Do you think that ease does not challenge us and that we need adversity to help us discover who we are?</li>
<li>Is conscience a more powerful motivator than money, fame, or power?</li>
</ul>

<p>I think you should stay away from pop culture. And stick to specific ideas.</p>

<p>For the conscience one, would Bill Gates, charity work?</p>

<p>Can you use only personal anecdotes and still get a good score? One essay that got a 6 in the Blue Book only had personal examples, so I figured you could if collegeboard used it as an example for the best one.</p>
