Mental health awareness program – Founded a program in my district that teaches middle school students about mental illness. My friend and I created our own curriculum and lesson plans and presented them to principals at middle schools in our area. Now, we visit the middle schools and present to middle school students (in a few days we will start, but the program has been implemented).
DECA club – President of club at my school, runs meetings, restarted club when it was left with no members, Entered chapter into competitions for the first time since it was founded in 2013
Science research – Conducted computer vision research as part of a summer program called Pioneer Academics (it’s Oberlin-accredited and their science research journal is read over by professors from universities such as Harvard and Columbia), research nominated for publication in research journal
Programming Club – President of the club at my school, I run meetings and lead the development of a chrome extension that tracks students’ schedules, I also participate in ACSL competitions through this club and my team of 3 scored 26/30 and 27/30 last year
Mypockettherapy.com – I coded and hosted this website in my free time, it’s designed to comfort users and serve as an outlet to vent their emotions (inspired by my interest in coding and psychology), 1269 visits in the past 2 months
Summer school – Teacher’s assistant at summer school in my district, I provided academic support for 5th and 6th graders, supervised students, led lessons
Coding/mathematics instructor (paid) – Taught groups of K-8 kids coding and mathematics, Greeted parents and informed them of their children’s performance
Ambassador for District Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program and an Anti-Bullying program – EMS: Taught First Aid and about the role of paramedics/ambulances to elementary and middle schoolers
Anti-bullying: Taught a class of 5th graders about racism and stereotyping
