What are my chances at a top 10 med school

I attend a small liberal arts college.
Pre-med Duel major with Graphic Design
4.0 GPA Non-science
4.0 Science
35 MCAT
I have studies abroad at Oxford
I have been on Medical Missions to Uganda once, and Zambia once
I shadowed a spinal surgeon at Mayo Clinic
Captain of Varsity Table Tennis Team
Student Government member
Math Club President
I fluently speak English, and Arabic

No research? A year off to do research would make you golden, but even without any you probably will score at least some interviews from top research medical schools. Good clinical experience, decent extracurriculars. Stats are on par for such schools, though certainly not above average.

Are you a US citizen/permanent resident?

You were a duel major? Is your specialty in swords or spears?

The OP has certainly aged a lot since earlier today.

I knew a few interviewees that young, but are you saying that the OP changed the age of his account?

No. I think we are seeing an 18 yo somebody who is throwing a (naively constructed) “what if?” scenario out there to get some comments. Probably felt he’d/she’d be chastised if we felt they were just starting out so they made up what they thought was a great resume to ask if it would off-set a “small LAC”.

^ the OP is a year older than me. So what’s the problem?

His point is well taken. Most people who put forth such a scenario who are 18 are in fact freshman trying to gauge what they need to do to achieve their goals rather than 18 year old seniors at a university. Chillax.

O.K…Look. You want to know why I think it’s made up? And, if I don’t miss my guess, made up by a high school kid?

Here are some of the things that strike me as odd. Not impossible, just unlikely even one at a time. Much less all at once. ;)

The age given the stated accomplishments.

The overwhelmimg drama of the accomplishments. Mayo surgeon shadowing? Not one but two African medical safaris? The perfect 4.0 for someone far enough along in school to be that accomplished? Oxford?

The lack of understanding of GPA’s in med school admissions. Science?

The strange capitalization of “Medical Missions”.

“Duel”

As in, “Pre-med Duel major with Graphic Design”. (What’s the other major at the LAC? And why didn’t they mention it? )

And last but certainly not least…Math Club President.

IMO, this might not be his best creative writing exercise.

Wow, who knew the premed forum could be so entertaining!

Plumazul, that member is a favorite here on cc with both parents and students. He has helped many on this forum as well as keeping us all entertained. I’m sure you are just having a bad day, right? ;)

Just thought I’d liven’ up the place. And I’ll be here all week. Remember to tip your waitresses and bartenders. ;)

After a little clean up, I’m gonna say, “no harm, no foul”, let’s keep it civil OK?
