Latina.
GPA - 4.1.
SAT and ACT- Average. Both incredibly average.
8 AP Classes- English Lang. Spanish Lang. U.S History. Bio. Chem. Gov. Econ. and Lit.
EC’s - 3 Years Tech Club. 2 Years Interact Club (A community service club). Model United Nations 1 Year (I founded it at my school) and Performing Arts 1 Year. I also did Soccer for some time, still kind of doing it. I had to quit because MUN was a priority for me, though. Don’t spread yourself too thin, is the moral of that story :[
I also mentioned the summer programs I have participated in which include: CalARTS Community Arts Partnership (3 weeks) and Hispanic Youth Institute (A program that educates and encourages minority adolescents to go to college by providing a college experience for them. We basically learned about financial stuff and dormed for 3 days and 2 nights.)
Try not to be too harsh as crying is guaranteed for me. Thanks.
@MariaVeliz1 I’m assuming your ACT and SAT scores are below the USC/UCLA averages, but remember, those scores do not define you as an applicant. Your GPA is pretty good and your extracurriculars look great; the fact that your formed MUN at your school is impressive! No crying.
You’ll do just fine.
If you do not post your ACT/SAT scores, then no one can give you decent chancing. EC’s look good and GPA is competitive but test scores and essays could make the difference between acceptance and denial. Latina will only help you at USC. California publics banned affirmative action for admissions.
@Alison177 Thank you very much. As it turns out, UCLA denied me but I’m still awaiting USC’s response. Sorry, I did cry but I’m all better now! Haha.
USC: Reach with that SAT/ACT. Do you have any backups?
ACT and SAT scores are low for those schools, sorry. :-<
USC has never had affirmative action because so many highly qualified URMs apply, especially Hispanics.
