What are my chances at Cornell?

I have a 4.45 (4.0 unweighted) GPA and I am valedictorian of my class. I take APs and challenging classes (anatomy, chemistry, precalc, etc). I’m planning on applying early decision as well. I have been the captain of the colorguard marching band team for the past two years, and I’ve been a part of through all of high school. I am the treasurer of student senate, volunteens, and NHS. I founded my school’s Science Olympiad team, but that happened just this year since I hadn’t heard of SciOly before this year. I also founded my school’s first Book Club. I have also done winterguard and the Performing Arts Company for all of high school, and I’ve been in two plays and plan on directing my own play. I tutored every day after school my freshman and sophomore year, and I had a job this past school year. I am also an active member of the Kalamazoo Astronomical Society (because I absolutely love astronomy and want to go into astrophysics). I have run a marathon and I’m part of the Kalamazoo Area Runner’s Club. One other huge part of my life is the Kalamazoo County Youth Cabinet, which I’ve also been a part of all throughout high school, where I’ve created free swimming lessons for children, donated hundreds of cans to the Gospel Mission along with 300 bags of necessities, and launched the nonprofit Empower the Shower, where KCYC and other youth organizations work together to build mobile showers to center in downtown Kalamazoo. I ALSO took summer classes at Brown University last summer, and took summer classes through my school the summer of my freshman year, and I plan on taking two summer classes this summer, along with an astrophysics research internship at MSU. I’ve also been a part of leadership conferences for multiple years, one of my most cherished being the MyLead conference. My SAT score was a 1450, but I’m taking it again this August and I hope to get in the 1500s this time. My SAT Math II is a 700 and my SAT Biology is a 730.

All in all, I’ve always been incredibly confused with college admissions since I’m the first in my family to attend college, and I’ve felt lost on what schools I should be gauging my time on. Of course I can always go for all of the schools in the world, but I’m genuinely curious where I have an actual shot at. And a quick thing to note, no I don’t do all of these things because I think “they will look good”, I do them (1) because I like being busy and (2) because I love the things I do and they give my life some purpose.

And I was second chair clarinet in symphonic band…that’s about it though

And we don’t have any honors classes at my school and we can’t take AP classes freshman year, and only one sophomore year, so I’ve kind of loaded my schedule with APs for the last two years.

Get your SAT up and I think you’ll stand a relatively decent (which is still low) chance of getting in.

You have an excellent chance of getting into Cornell ED. Cornell really likes it if you can visit the school.

I think that you have a good chance. However, definitely have a plan B and a plan C. Getting into a top university is always uncertain (at least in this country).

I think you are good candidate, but depending on what school you end up applying to will have a big impact. Do you know what you want to major in?

I plan on majoring in astrophysics
