Hello, all! So I’m an NC homeschooler in a remote part of the state. I’m wondering what my chances of getting into UNC-CH are
SAT: 1880 (dreadful, I know, was sick every time I took it).
GPA: 4.0
Applications essays: damn good, quite unique.
EC’s: I do a lot of volunteer work, have done for years, usually with the elderly. I’m also pretty involved in my local church, and do things there. My family also owns a cow, sheep, hens, and the like, so I’ve got a lot of experience with animal husbandry.
I’ve also done voice for four years, and got a glowing recommendation from my voice teacher. I sing and cantor in my church choir, and sing at all kinds of local events.
I also got a lovely recommendation letter from a family friend who is an esteemed alumni of UNC.
My older sister is also currently enrolled there.
I also work at a well-regarded summer camp as a counselor, and there I’ve had a lot of leadership training/experience.
Am In-State, female, and my ethnicity is Caucasian/Hispanic/Sephardic Jew.
Anyway, I’ve already been accepted to a few good universities, so I’m not terribly worried. UNC is definitely my first choice, though, so fingers crossed!
Note: throughout high school I’ve been very sickly, and was only recently diagnosed with endometriosis. Consequently, the past four years were not all that they could have been. My family is also dirt poor, so any education I did receive came at a great price to us.
