I also have a pretty remarkable essay

Your SAT is very low. What’s the breakdown?
What scale is your GPA on? Weighted or unweighted?

Which school are you applying to?

Your ECs look good but I’m not sure if that is enough…

Im applying to SAS

its on a 4.0 scale and its unweighted, I am not sure what it is weighted, but it will be mentioned in my transcripts.

And 480-Math 520-Reading 570-Writing

Will my rank mean anything to admissions?

Well according to [Rutgers | Rutgers Admissions](http://admissions.rutgers.edu/academics/admissionsprofile.aspx),
the middle 50% weighted GPA for an admitted student at Rutgers is between 3.5 and 4.0, so your GPA is good.
But, the middle 50% for SAT scores is 1710-2000, which you are way below.
You might end up being admitted to Newark or maybe Camden campus…
Your ethnicity might help though…

If your essay is as good as you say, combined with your ECs, you may have a chance…
How are your letters of recommendation?

Thank you…And I have 4 total recommendations:one from my calculus teacher, one from my history teacher, one from my algebra teacher, and one from my guidance counselor. I am not sure if I should send all of them however.

I also don’t live in the best cities in NJ, actually it may be one of the worse. Would that have any help in admissions? I don’t want to make it seem like I’m some unfortunate kid and the world is against me, but I’m trying to get as much help as I can.

PS-There was a student from my hs that went to Rutgers back in 2010 and his stats were way below mine, does that mean anything? But I know that Rutgers are cutting back on their acceptances by 4% so that may be detrimental to me.

If someone with lower stats got in you probably will.
Do you know which campus they went to?

Yes, they were accepted into New Brunswick in 2010. Hopefully I will have the same luck lol

Then you probably have a chance.
Best of luck! :D

(By the way, have you visited? Demonstrating interest might help…)

Well I live in New Jersey, so it likes Rutgers was always instilled in my blood, but since its like that, I’ve wanted to venture out to other schools. I’ve been looking at Pitt, Temple, St. Johns, Howard, WVU, Penn State, Xavier, etc…and ironically, I’ve visited Temple, Howard, and Pitt more than I’ve toured Rutgers, and its only like 25mins away lol…I mean, if you mean driving around the campus then yeah, I do that frequently, but nothing formal…

And lately I’ve been just thinking that Rutgers wasn’t too out of reach for me, and I have a pretty ok gpa, my sats arent horrible, and my ec’s are adequate, so it’s like why not?lol

btw…just wanna put it out there Rutgers does not want letters of rec.

These are some facts about admission stats from last year. You can estimate what your chances are.
