I am an incoming senior (iranian female) at a private school. I want to be some sort of designer. (architect, industrial or graphic designer)
I have been looking at some schools, and these are what i am planning to apply to. Do i have a chance at these schools?
I am working on perfecting my portfolio and i have a 1800 sat (i am only a junior, no prep and DEFINITELY taking it again senior year)
I will have 3 letters of recommendation, (chemistry, art history, studio art)
I have an unweighted gpa of 3.1 and a weighted gpa of 3.3
I have taken 1 honors class, 2 advanced classes, and (as of next year) 4 ap classes. (Ap french, art history, studio art and music theory)
I have played classical piano for 11 years and have won up to 30 trophies. I have won 2 poster competitions for the city of LA, and am involved on student council, robotics, art club (president). I am currently in an internship at a famous product and environmental design firm.
As for my portfolio, I am working hard on it this summer, and I am planning on expanding it even more, especially since i am taking ap studio.
Do I have a chance at any of these schools?
Risd and USC are my top choices. I believe i have a fairly good chance, but it is only my gpa i am worried about. My freshman year sucked, and i have been taking it on an upward trend ever since. If i make straight As senior year before apps, how much can i raise it? Also, are there any other schools I should consider besides these? I want a college campus/experience, which is why i am not applying to otis, cooper union, pratt, etc… PS. I am visiting colleges in boston, are there any design schools I should go to?
