Cost Constraints / Budget
I’m getting FAFSA.

Schools (colleges I got into-)

  • Florida Tech
  • Howard University
  • Penn State
  • The State University of New York at Stony Brook
  • Virginia Tech
  • University of West Florida

What does that mean?

Are you a graduating senior? I’m confused. You got into six schools. Were you waitlisted at UCF?

Oh, I’m a senior. I know I got into those six colleges, but I really want to go to UCF.

Congrats on some great acceptances!

Are you waitlisted for UCF? It sounds like you prefer it to any of your current acceptances. Unfortunately, it doesn’t typically have room to accept very many off the waitlist. I looked at the most recent CDS I could find, and only about 43 were enrolled off the waitlist (this was out of over 2,000 offered a spot on the waitlist.)

No, I’m not waitlisted. I just really wanna go there. I submitted my application for fall 2024 on April 26.

Got it. Sounds like you decided sort of late-ish to apply, but you got your application in by the May 1st deadline. I do know it has been harder and harder to get into. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Best wishes!!

Thank you. I hope so too.

What does this mean? All you will be getting from the FAFSA is a $5500 direct loan, and whatever portion of the Pell Grant you are eligible to receive.

The federally funded need based aid won’t fund full costs at any of these colleges.

I would strongly suggest that you look at the costs of all of these schools. At the ones where you were accepted, did you receive a financial aid package, and are any of the colleges affordable?
