What are my chances at Yale?

Hey guys,

Nearing application time, I’m starting to deliberate which schools to apply to early. I’ve visited Yale and I think that it’s a good fit for me. Here are some of my accomplishments in high school along with a general profile. Please be honest and give any and all advice possible.

Gender: M
Race: Asian (Indian), White (Middle Eastern)
Age: 16
State: IL
School type: Large public

GPA: 3.8/4.0 and 4.42/4 weighted
ACT: 35
AP Scores: Calculus BC (5), Calculus BC: AB Subscore (5), Chemistry (5), Physics C Mechanics (5), Physics C E&M (4), APUSH (4), English Language (5), Stats (4), Psychology (5)
Subject Tests: Math 2 (800), Chemistry (800)

Senior Year Course Load: AP Biology, AP Economics, AP Comp Sci, AP Literature, AP European History, College Financial Accounting, Spanish Conversation, Stanford Online High School Dual Enrollment Linear Algebra (sem.1) and Number Theory (sem.2)

Extracurriculars: Founder of 3 clubs, lots of volunteering, research at the University of Chicago, Science Olympiad state, Math Team, and also tons of tutoring.

Essays: Common app will be about my estranged family and how I felt a lack of an identity growing up and how I resolved that.

A few things to note about me: GPA is a bit low, but rigor extremely high. I took Calculus BC and stats as a sophomore, and I also took Physics C and AP Chem as a junior, along with dual-enrollment calc 3 at Stanford OHS.

I’m shortening my profile a bit to make it easier to process. Thanks for the advice. Intended major probably mathematics or chemistry (maybe chemical engineering or biochemistry).

Awards: Almost certainly national merit semifinalist, national AP scholar, state science Olympiad medalist, science fair gold award winner.

Good luck

Honestly, great advice. Thank you.

BTW, congrats on your great accomplishments to date. You’re clearly headed towards a successful collegiate career – as you know, it’s simply near impossible to predict results with places with admit rates as low as Yale
