What are my chances for grandkids ?

<p>I’d be okay with that. I also want to be a young grandmother and have many, many years with them including attending their weddings. Also, my parents are still alive and nothing would make them happier than to be able to meet their great grandchildren. Only one of mine is married right now, but should the other two have an accident, I’m okay with it. They are in stable relationships, have good jobs and homes. Go for it.</p>

<p>We had toyed with the idea of fostering . An accidental grandchild would be nice , as I am an empty nest mom , and I love babies ! I would not encourage anyone , however !</p>

<p>Well, my problem is I was someone who wanted lots of kids. So although I am so grateful for finally having my daughter, I wanted more babies, more toddlers. It was all over to soon. </p>

<p>What I have learned is to appreciate what you DO have.</p>

<p>We’re very proud of ourselves that we waited a whole two days after our son came out to us to tell him that we were still hoping for grandchild someday. He rolled his eyes! Luckily, he still wants to get married and have kids. Whew!</p>

<p>My grandson was a big surprise! My d and her husband had said no kids but Mother Nature had something else in mind. We are all thrilled with how things worked out.</p>

<p>One of my coworkers and his husband are expecting with a surrogate this spring. The mother is so utterly beside herself that she is seriously thinking of moving from Michigan to be near them. The fact that she can afford to do it scares the heck out of them. I can totally identify with the grandmother.</p>

<p>I desperately want grandchildren, but I can wait. Thankfully I still have a semi-small person. But let me tell you, one of my other co-workers brought his new baby in for a meet and greet and I was consumed with envy.</p>

<p>What are my chances? As far as I know neither boy has had a girl or boyfriend. One is 22 the other is 19.</p>

<p>I think my oldest child will not get married until she’s well established in her career. For the second child, my guess is she will be married sooner rather than later because she loves the all kind of wedding related shows on TV, so there is hope.</p>

<p>May I suggest for all of you with strong yearnings but an indeterminate wait? --Get thee to your local library or elementary school. </p>

<p>Just last night I had a conversation with one of our volunteers at the library. She is seventy three years old and two years ago she came to the library and volunteered to work in the office, doing paperwork – but she insisted she would not deal with the kids. She is now doing Story Time outreach for local daycare centers (she goes out to daycare centers and does story time) She is always on the hunt for good books for story time or for a fun craft idea. She says the best part is when she is the grocery store and some little kid recognizes her and gives her a big hug.</p>

<p>I volunteer 3 or 4 times a week at the local Pediatric Emergency Dept . and I am a substitute teacher several times a week . I have a big fan club already !</p>
