I’m currently a junior with a 3.74 GPA. I have very strong extracurricular activities/leadership/volunteer work/numerous awards and this summer I was accepted into two really competitive summer programs! All throughout high school, I have taken the most rigorous courses possible, and because of that my grades are not the best. I go to an extremely competitive public school that, every year, has a large amount of students that get accepted into the top universities in the nation. Our school doesn’t rank (thankfully). My SAT score is currently a 2220 (I am planning on studying over the summer and hopefully scoring a 2350+ on the next test). I received a 230 on the PSAT, which will qualify me for National Merit Scholar Semifinalist next fall.
I’m concerned because this semester, I don’t think I can improve my GPA that much. I’m most likely going to end up with two B’s (out of 7 classes) and so I won’t be able to show that upward trend that colleges like to see. If I do end up scoring a 2350+ on the SAT, will that sort of compensate for my average GPA?
What are my chances for my dream schools? (Stanford, UPenn Wharton, Brown, Berkeley, UCLA)
Thank you! Also, any advice for how I can make myself a stronger applicant come college application season?
