Well, here are my stats/misc info. I am a current freshman at a California Community College.
Race: Hispanic/Latino. Non-native speaker.
Income: Less than 35,000. Single parent.
First generation.
Intended Major: Political Science/International Relations. Japanese minor.
GPA COMMUNITY COLLEGE: 4.0 (Honors Program). Heavy Course-load.
GPA HIGH SCHOOL: 2.4uw, 3.5w (Lmao AP classes)
AP TESTS: AP ENGLISH 5
Sat: 1590. Sat subject tests: Math 2 - 800. World History - 800.
Intended transfer date: Fall 2019
ECs: Presented research at Stanford, UC Berkeley, and CSULB. Phi Theta Kappa leadership role. Assist Counselor for at risk youth enrolled in my community college. Intern for the Department of Toxic Substances. Honors Program at my school (will have 15 semester units worth of honors classes in Math, Poli Sci, and Philosophy). Editor for the local newspaper. Lots of research at my school. Photography.
Goals: PhD in International relations. Possible Lawyer. Wannabe Professor.
So, what’s my story? It’s simple, really. I nearly flunked out of high school (health, financial, and family issues). My counselors said I was done for. I said screw that, and I turned everything around. I ended up graduating high school with national debate tournaments and lead MainStage play roles under my belt. I was academically ineligible for many schools, so community college was the way to go. I am doing great here! I love research, international relations, helping and mentoring students, and chilling in nature. I am a simple man.
Where am I applying? UCB (TAP)/UCLA(TAP)-Global studies.
