I guess it is important to mention I am an international student who is from China studying in the US.
Also I I think it’s worth to mention that I transferred from a average school to an academically more changeling one as a sophomore. So my Sophomore year grade was bad(B+/Bs no C) but then I picked it up and took the hardest classes possible and showed an upward trend.
You will probably get into at least one of the EA schools (IU, Northeastern,Fordham University), as long as you didn’t ask for financial aid. NYU, UMichigan and UIUC are a high reach for 3.55 GPA.
Are you instate for UIUC? If not, you are not looking at the right stat. Also, the admission stat at UIUC depends on the major you are applying to. The overall stat is not really meaningful.
Out of state. I could not find stats for out of state stats. But Being ranked lower than Northeastern, it does not make sense to me it would have a way higher requirement for out of state students
A comment in this thread about financial aid implies you improve chances if do not check off yes to applying for financial aid? If I know in advance I will only be eligible to get student loans should I check off no in order to improve chances? Are parent student loans considered financial aid?
@VYU18 UIUC admits by major, and specific departments are much more competitive than others. The admitted student profile for a business student (and the acceptance rate) is not reflective of the general school. If you were applying for say English, it would be a very different story. Many public schools follow the same admit by major / college format.
I can’t find specific numbers to claim that between UIUC and Northeastern the acceptance or standards are higher or lower, but I am certain that the business schools at UIUC has higher standards and lower admission rates than the school generally. I would say that their standards are generally comparable based on my experience.
Well, I have an around 90 GPA(a very prestigious high school near Boston, no ranking), and a 1490 on the sat. My counsellor told me it was a safety school even for an international student like me, mainly because of its high acceptance rate I believe. If you have a similar stats u should be fine.
