Hi Everyone,
I am a freshman at a Patriot League private school in the Northeast, with two sisters at USC. I want to transfer to Marshall for Fall 2025 and currently have a 3.93 college GPA. My high school grades aren’t great as I wasn’t focused enough, and I have not submitted my SAT. My extracurriculars mostly come from athletics, except for my college investing club. I like to think that my essays were good, but who knows for sure? For those wondering, I wrote about what being part of the Trojan family means. I’m just curious if I have a decent chance of admission to USC. Thanks in advance for any responses.
There’s USC and then there’s Marshall. What are your hs stats and rigor level ?
Did you apply last year ?
It’s unlikely but no pain no gain.
The last CDS shows over 25% accepted but some may be on programs promising admission after one year. .
Good luck.
Will you be applying as a sophomore transfer (with perhaps one semester of college record) or a junior transfer (with perhaps three semesters of college record)?
High school record matters much less for junior transfers than sophomore transfers. A sophomore transfer applicant is unlikely to be admitted to a college (in the same major/division if applicable) that rejected them as a frosh applicant, due to the importance of high school record.
I went to a very good public high school and my GPA was 3.73, however I didn’t take the most rigorous scheudle for my first couple years. When I started to take alot of APs my senior year I was admitted early decision else where and didn’t put my best foot forward for the rest of the academic year. However my college is traditionally very rigirous and I have done well.
I am applying to transfer as an incomming sophomore but will be submitting my final spring grades.
I am applying to transfer as an incomming sophomore but will be submitting my final spring grades. I am in the current cycle.
I’m in the current cycle.
Congrats. Are you ok staying if USC doesn’t happen ?
What is the benefit of SC for you vs the current ?
Your hs record likely will matter.
But there’s only one way to find out.
Good luck.
If USC doesn’t happen, I am still not staying at my current school due to personal reasons but it is my top chance in terms of transfering. The benefit of SC for me is in the great opportunities through Marshall and the familiarity with the school due to family ties. It has always been my “dream” school but I didn’t apply last year since I only had a real chance as a transfer. I’m hoping that the upward trend in grades will look good. Thanks for the help!
Where else are you applying ?
