I’m currently 3rd year double major political science/history undergrad with a 3.6 GPA and a 173 LSAT but i have one NP in a random philosophy course not related to my major in anyway. Do i have a solid chance of getting into USC? Will that NP (which is calculated as an F) have a serious impact on my admission possibilities?

Probably fine at USC. In fact you could probably get into someplace a little more selective.

The NP will not count as an F, as long as your school does not treat it punitively (that is, does the NP hurt your GPA at USC?).

Regarding USC, you are probably in (and have a shot at the full scholly). I recommend going elsewhere, though (even if your desire is ultimately to work in LA). You have a good shot at the top 4 on down, so you should try for them (unless you nab that full scholarship at USC, of course).

Even if the NP does count as an F, your GPA probably drops to what, a 3.4? Still a very good chance at USC and others.

Hi acg912, out of curiosity what did you do in order to prepare yourself in terms of studying for the LSAT? A 173 is a great score and will take you farther than USC, consider looking at schools inside the T14.
