Colleges realize that anyone who can get above like a 1450 is really smart, but to say that if somebody got a 1460 and someone else got a 1560 that one is smarter than the other is ridiculous. When the scores get that high and the errors are very minimal it’s very possible that one person is just a better test taker than the other. THis is why they just want you to prove that you’re academically capable of their college. SAT IIs are also pretty unimportant because they just depend on how hard youstudy or how hard your class was at school. They don’t measure you so colleges can be even more generalized when it comes to showing competency (that’s why harvard considers a 600 good.) Too many people on this thing think that if you have a 1510 than you’ve got better chances than a 1470, but that’s bull. They’re both smart. I also heard before, although I’m not to sure if it’s true, that Harvard has a scale from 1 to 8 for figuring out your SATs. If you get above a 1450 you get an 8, so this way a 1460 is equavilent to a 1600.

I think its strange that you’re applying to Harvard, Yale, Northwestern… and UCSC. What are you thinking with your SAT scores? Sone advice (although wasted now because they were dues yesterday) would be to just apply to your top UC, because you’re pretty much guaranteed in. Save the $55 for each one, but oh well maybe you can afford it. You have great stats, and I’m sure you’ll do fine

Aaaaaaahhhhhh! Can’t you read? Don’t you realize that a 1510 is definitely not something holding him back from harvard. A quarter of the people at harvard don’t even get a 1400! He’s proven himself as academically talented and that’s what counts. Ninety points is a very small margin which can easily be explained because of nerves or because he’s just not good at standardized tests. You do realize that score means that he probably missed about 10 questions. Do you really think harvard is going to think getting lucky on 10 questions makes you more qualified than another person. Absolutely not. They’re looking for if you’re smart, and this kid is. SATs aren’t holding him back at all.

sure thing man. you tell 'em

ok no. can YOU read (pjv). I was pointing out how stupid it was for him to apply to UC Santa Cruz. I live in CA, and that’s pretty much the biggest party/pot/loser school to go to in CA. (over exaggeration I know) So thanks for chewing me out friend. I’m not stupid. HE has excellent chances at HYPS, and DEFINATELY UCSC. If you went there, I would visit you to laugh and throw things at you. Go anywhere but there.
