Pie to be dispensed after advice is given. Assuming I get my lower SAT II’s up into the 700s on Saturday, what are my chances?

good God, are you kidding? with your SAT score in the 1500’s, a large number of extracurriculars, and an excellent high school record, you should REALLY be asking, “what schools would dare to not accept me?”

…

but since you’re asking, you might not get into Harvard. They sometimes go out on a limb NOT to accept smart kids with high scores. Good luck, even though you won’t need it, and good job on making lazy kids like me want to work harder :)

I see no pie, and as you are a filthy liar with no respect for the fine morals of honesty and integrity, I see no reason to massage your ego. I say good day to you sir!

I have considered your complaint sir, and have found it to be quite legitimate. As such, I present the following: . .'…-. _________.'.. ... ..\ ________/. . . . . ... /… … … . .

You are a reach for Harvard and Yale (ie maybe), and you are in everywhere else. My suggestion is to apply to more moderate reaches like Brown, Dartmouth, Amherst, Penn, Columbia, etc. and dump the safeties like BU, Oberlin, etc unless you really want to go there.

You also need to be able to spell the colleges to get in, i’ve never heard of “Bonston University”, unless it is one of those crazy foreign schools.

Thanks for the 3.14159.
Assuming you live in California and are an in-state applicant for the UCs,

Harvard: Slight Reach
Yale: Slight Reach
Tufts: Match
Johns Hopkins: Match
Boston University: Safe Match
Northwestern: Slight Reach
USC: Match
Oberlin: Safe Match (?)

UCLA: Match
UCSD: Safe Match
UCSB: Safety
UCSC: Super Safety

I was talking with an admissions counselor for Harvard and she said if you have 600s on your SAT IIs and a 1400 on your SAT then you’ve proven yourself enough academically for them and they don’t care much more about standardized tests. They are important for proving that you’re smart, but if you have a 1450 or a 1550 it doesn’t make that much of a difference if any to Harvard (perhaps when you get up to a 1590-1600 it gets you some extra points though.) So don’t worry about scores holding you back from Harvard. You just have to get lucky. The lady said they basically narrow it down to 3 or 4 thousand, all of whom deserve acceptance letters, and then pick their 1700. You really just have to get lucky, so i’d say you’ve got a good shot at their top 4 thousand, so you just need some luck.

mmm pie, as you have rectified your previous misstep I shall hereby retract my previous statement. You have a good shot at all your colleges, but you already knew that, didn’t you?

really?. but it would certainly hep if you have 700+ on your satii’s. MOst colleges see whether you work hard or not and if you have challenged yourself to taking hard classes, which you have.
