hey

i’m living in new zealand but I’m doing the A levels.
Did 4 AS (english,chemi,phys,maths) and doing 2 A levels (maths,physics)

I would like to apply for engineering in cornell in 2007 0r 2008.

Havent yet done Sat I or SatII but i was wondering what kind of scores from Sat and satII I would need to get in.

I dont know what all the GPA and APs are but i guess only americans have them.

thanks for your advice.

GPA = Grade point average
AP= advanced placement ( this is a college class that you can take in highschool and still get a credit for it when you get to college)

APs are the equivalent of A Levels. In fact, if you go look into the Cornell website, they have a list of how you can gain extra credits beforehand if you obtain a certain grade in an A Level subject (i.e. an A in Math would give you 3 or 4 credits). This is much like how you, like everzinny said, can get credit for your AP classes and have them counted in college. :)

how does gaining credits help???

also what kind of sat/satII scores would be good enough?
would i be disadvantaged because i dont have a gpa?

thanks

It’s not as much the gaining of credits that helps, but more of the fact that these are “college level” classes, and you are challenging yourself with the highest level class available to you.

The other questions I cant say as much about but…

SAT/II’s a good score would probably be 700+ on each SAT II or SAT I section.
Instead of GPA I think they would use an average of the grades in your classes, but I don’t know if they might weight it somehow.
