What are my chances in getting into a highly selective school?
9th Grade:

GPA: 4.2
Courses: Alg. 2, Stem, AP Hug
Extra: Choir(Got into varsity choir next year), (Online Chemistry and Algebra 3 im taking this in addition to my regular class to accelerate my passion for learning),Ap Human Geography, Leader of Stand(Student Taking about Need for Diversity) , NJHS member, Won presidents award for excellence in education

I also started a 501c3 tutoring center for Somali youth with the help of my father. My goal was to educate the youth and give them a chance to prosper in a learning environment that most schools in that neighborhood can’t give. I manage and tutor there for the past 3 years.

Thinking about taking debate or speech, which is better?, and thinking about taking drama and volunteering at our a community theatre, also doing math league and science bowl teams

Depends. What year are you in HS, whats your UW GPA out of 4, ACT/SAT score, ECs, and number of Honors/AP/IB classes. You have good ECs now but I wouldn’t just join stuff for the purpose of a resume (but speech is > debate, personal opinion). If you can maintain mostly As with maybe a few Bs, get a high standardized test score, and write good essays in addition to ECs you already have, then yes you probably can get in a top 20 school. Need higher if you want Ivy, though it sounds like your an freshman or sophomore just starting the college process so you should really research what amenities you want at a college before randomly deciding to apply places.

Note I’m giving you very generic advice right now if you want specifics on you odds for certain schools come back later with more info once you have standardized tests and schools in mind to aim for.

in junior high right now, but to high school 10th grade next years

Wait 9th grade is considered Junior high for your school? Or did you skip a grade because HS is typically 9-12th grade. Regardless APs already are really good as a 9th grader, and your tutoring center thing seems unique and something your passionate about which is cool and would be good to continue. I’d say pick one new EC like speech, debate, or math and science bowl and just really commit to something you like instead of spreading yourself too think and overwhelming yourself. With that, choir, and tutoring and a few smaller things you’d have enough going on outside of academics to please selective colleges. And for now that is all you can really do to prepare for college besides maintaining grades and class rigor to a good level for whatever schools you want. Consciousness is really the key to getting in selective colleges so the fact your already starting to think about it a little already shows you have the potential to get in somewhere selective. Good luck!

Which EC is better? The one you will enjoy more.

And your chances are a solid 0% until you have more grades and an ACT/SAT score. :stuck_out_tongue: Keep up your good work and forget about the minutiae of acceptance rates for now.

Haha what is AP Pre-Calculus
