I have a very interesting and complex situation throughout high school.
Freshman year: I attended a private school in southern California, probably my favorite year because I was with my friends. During my freshman year, I played water polo at a varsity level and was really stocked for the following years. The people at that high school that played water polo with me, are the people that I’ve known for 5-6 years. We all planned to attend this high school. Sadly, this came to an end. I ended the school year with a 3.9 gpa. I had all A’s and 1 B one semester.
Sophomore Year: My parents then told me the family is going to move to Northern California for my sophomore year. This is where I attended a public school. The public school is ranked one of the top schools, some people saw the area is like “living in a bubble” which I found unique. To be completely honest, it was really hard fitting in there. New people, new teachers, new curriculum and just a different environment. This was very scary for me at the time. I was so worried about fitting in, that I lost track of grades. My grades dropped. I was also playing varsity water polo my sophomore year. The coach at this school heard about me from down south, and I was immediately placed on varsity. The players on the team were more of teammates than friends. At the school, I was sometimes bullied and I often sat alone just reading and doing homework. I was miserable because I couldn’t stand getting mocked and just being left out. I asked my parents if I can attend a private school that was about 20 mins away from my house next semester. They completely understood my situation and agreed. I also took an ap class, ap euro at this school and it is not offered at the next school. So i didnt take ap test.
Sophomore 2nd semester: I attended a private school my 2nd semester, which is a school incredibly known for their football, and I felt like I fit in. I was welcomed and made friends the first day I attended. I met with the coach of the water polo team and he remembers me from some games. He put me on the varsity team for next year. My grades improved from my first semester. I finished the Sophomore year with a 3.33 Gpa, combining both schools, which was a downfall for me. Adapting was not one of my strong attributes. And guess what! We are moving again!!
Junior Year: So my Dad’s job made us relocate to Hawaii, which sounds great and all, but it’s different if you moved there. It’s a great vacation spot and is always beautiful, but it’s not home. We got this notice that we are moving kind of late, so I was limited on what classes I could take. I ended up showing up to school a week late due to moving. I took only 2 honors classes. I couldn’t take any AP’s because it required some summer work or something like that. So it turns out, that one of my friends from my sophomore year, his dad works the same job as my dad, so we both moved to Hawaii and turned out in the same high school. So I’m going into Junior year at a new high school with a friend, which I am incredibly grateful for. Hawaii is so different, the people, the curriculum, and the setting were different. Sadly, there is little to no water polo in Hawaii. I am putting high school water polo on rest and just playing a casual club where help younger players understand the game. I finished the first semester with a 4.14 gpa and definitely going to finish with a 4.14 gpa. I feel like my ability to adapt is a lot stronger than before. My maturity level has definitely increased.
Freshman Year EC’s - Homeless kitchen, sports clubs (Swimming and water polo)
Sophomore -sports clubs
Junior - sports clubs, NHS, Key Club, tutoring
Not involved because of my short time at those schools overall plan is to stay in Hawaii for Senior year, but you never know.
I really want to go to USC, its probably my top pick.
I am also applying for UCSD, UC Davis, UCLA and other Uc schools.
Recap gpa :
Freshman 3.9
Sophomore 3.33
Junior 4.14
