Hi I just finished my sophomore year of high school and I currently live in Connecticut, but I am moving to Michigan this summer. I am very interested in Northwestern and I was wondering what my chances were, I am going for a campus visit in 2 or 3 weeks. I have not taken the ACT or SAT yet. My school doesnt officially rank, but they give percentiles and I am in the top 5% of my class of 400 students. I will be taking at least 5 AP’s over the next two years and so far I have taken all honors classes. I have a 4.0 gpa(all A’s) and on my schools scale where you get a 4.33 for A+'s i have a 4.13. I run track and play tennis, I was freshman class vice president, I have been an organizer for Relay For Life for the past two years(it is an event to raise money for cancer), and so far for high school I have around 60 hours of community service, which will definantly be over 100 hours by the time I apply. I am also applying to the National Honors Society next year and my guidance counselor told me that I am likely to get in. I will probably be getting a job once I move as well. I think that I will get some pretty good recommendations as well. Also, what scores do most kids need on the SAT/ACT to get in?
So just overall, what do you think my chances are of getting in if I get my test scores are high enough? Do you think I am much more likely to get in if I do early decision? Thank you, any comments would be greatly appreciated =]

You’re looking good so far, but seriously, worry about your junior year right now. It’s way too early to look at if you have a shot at Northwestern. Keep up your high grades, do well on your SAT/any SATIIs, and continue with your ECs. In all honesty, don’t start fretting about your “chances” now.

^^ Agreed. Your inquiry is premature without test scores and junior year grades.
