I’m Asian and a female.

So, what do you think my chances are?
Cause I’m getting scared and paranoid. : /
I really want to get into this school cause it’s my first choice.

There is an extremely small chance of you getting in. Despite the fact that you are below UMD’s 25th % of admitted students, you applied RD, where only 10% of their overall acceptances come from. I don’t mean to sound harsh, but UMD is a state-school, and they do utilize a holistic review process, but GPA and SAT are the majority of what they care about. I’d say in your case the absolute best case scenario is that you get Spring 2012 admission.

Terrible SAT score, be thankful for what you have gotten into. Absolute joke you even applied UPenn, your school must have terrible advising. No chance of getting into Penn, Syracuse, BU or UMD. GPA is pretty weak too…I’m sorry for being blunt, but there is no chance.

Yeah…I didn’t want to be as blunt or disheartening as 110percentwahoo, but I think you should probably start deciding between the schools you’ve already gotten into.

…thanks…I also applied to UMBC.
Could I go there and transfer?
…could you guys be any more dream crushing?..

Transferring in is always an option…they will mainly focus on your undergraduate GPA–the higher the better…and I’m not sure that coming from UMBC would be any better than any of the other schools who have already accepted you.

However, I think you should take a good look at the places that you’ve been accepted and which matches your needs (academic and financial) the best. You’ve got some great universities from which to choose. Sorry for wahoo’s rudeness, but your chances for RD admission to UMD are probably pretty low…but anything can happen.

I seee…: /
Well, thanks.
At least you told me that nicely, but gave me a little hope. : )
I appreciate it.
Do you go there?

astrophysicsMOM

You still have a chance although RD is very competitive. I was accepted this year for the fall with a similar gpa but with a little more then 200 points higher then your sat score. But I am from nj which is supposed t

You still have a chance although RD is very competitive. I was accepted this year for the fall with a similar gpa but with a little more then 200 points higher then your sat score. So if I got in you definitely have a chance goodluck but it would have helped you alot had you applied priority. Regardless goodluck I hope you get in since it’s your top choice it was my top choice as well.

I mean, like astromama said, you can always transfer in. The schools you’ve already been accepted to are great, so don’t put yourself down too much if you don’t get into UMD. UMD has gotten more and more competitive over the years, tbh I feel like if I applied today with the exact same application I submitted two years ago I probably wouldn’t get in.

Also everyone, there’s a difference between being blunt and being plain rude. ugh.

Sorry to be harsh, but under what misconception did you apply to UPenn with those SAT scores?

Thanks for the response goodday91.
Glad there are some nice people on here.

And yes, there is a difference between being blunt and being a b!tch (SWETHA93) : )

I think you should have taken the ACT. Your grades and courses look like you could have scored much higher on the ACT. Its harder to get into UMD then Penn State. This year is a very difficult year to get into good state schools.

Yeah, I thought about that after it was too late. : /
