Hi everyone,
I’m currently going to be a high school senior in my school and I want to know my chances of getting into Brown University, Northwestern, and Berkeley.
The academics at my school are a little different; I go to a private school and it doesn’t have traditional AP courses or IB courses. However, every course at my school is honors/AP level (the English/History are AP level and the sciences are mostly honors to AP level if that makes sense). For example, I took the “regular biology” course at my school and then took the AP bio test–we also have an Advanced Biology course at our school which goes more into depth on anatomy and such. It’s similar for chemistry and physics, except in those 2 subjects, you have to take the advanced version of it to take the test. In addition, when my school sends a transcript, my gpa isn’t weighted.
So here were my stats:
I have a 3.87 gpa currently (unweighted).
SAT: 1590 (the new one)
ACT: 36
I took some AP tests:
bio–>5
US History–>5
World History–>5
Lit/composition–>5
calc–>4
chem–>2 (i obviously won’t include that lol)
I was got the National Merit Scholarship for the PSAT (I am not sure if colleges look at that as much as gpa and all).
Extracurriculars:
For my freshman and sophmore year, I had to go through a lot of PT because I was in a car accident in 8th grade and injured my back, so I didn’t really get to do as many extracurriculars, so I basically spent my afternoons partying w my therapist for a good 3-4 hours.
–>I played piano for all for years and participated in the National Federation of Music Club’s Piano festival for all four years where you basically play 2 required songs for a set of judges and they rate you based on your playing—and if you get a Superior every year, you get to “advance to the next level” (I got superior each year lol).
–>I played Varsity soccer for all 3 years of high school (not as much in freshman year) and am going to be captain this year.
–>I volunteer at local groups in my area (volunteered with 2 diffferent organizations frequently). However, I was only able to start at the end of sophomore year because I had to be 16 to volunteer. I truly love volunteering and I plan on starting my own non-profit organization this senior year to aid women’s empowerment and bring books/money to fund and help provide an education in third-world countries to girls.
---->I took 2 college courses (during the summer outside of school): one was on photography and the other was on genetic engineering and I got an A and A- in both of those.
—>I’m part of student government and president of our school spirit section (for 3 years).
—>I’m president of our debate club which I’ve been doing for 2 years now.
---->I’m part of a “peer counseling” club which I’ve been doing for 3 years.
Our school is SUPER small and the staff is limited so we don’t have many people wanting to join clubs nor do we have a lot of clubs either and school spirit isn’t that great either.
So what do y’all think? I know I didn’t elaborate that much but I hope it makes sense and all.
