What are my chances of getting into Cornell University Aerospace Engineering - Early Decision

Hello!!

I am currently a high school junior enrolled in the International Baccalaureate program in Florida. I want to major in Aerospace Engineering… and I was wondering if spending that $95 admission fee is worth it!
My grades aren’t EXCELLENT and my test scores aren’t top notch… but I’ve worked hard to be involved in many events in my area.

About me:
Second generation Asian American female
Parents did not attend college
Languages: English and Vietnamese, fluently

GPA:
3.84 UW/ 4.5 W

Rankings:
My school has not offered me my school ranking, but these are my estimates:
Top 10% of my class (definitely), probably top 1%

I do have my district ranking though:
Ranking in my district: 44/4,532

Scores:
SAT:1480 Critical Reading and Math , Math: 760, Critical Reading: 720
ACT composite score: 33
I know my SAT/ACT scores aren’t that great, I will probably end up submitting only my ACT score.

Classes:
All AP/ IB classes junior year, all IB classes senior year

I’ve volunteered at a hospital since freshman year
I am an active Red Cross volunteer

Whoops! Forgot to finish one of the sections under volunteering.
I’ve participated in multiple events for Lunar New Year for the temple.

Cornell is a reach for you (and EVERYONE ELSE TOO), but it is not out of the question. If you want to go there, apply. You might not get in, but it’s not a waste for you to apply.

Cornell is not MIT. I’d say she’s right in the wheelhouse for Cornell and as an ED applicant she has a strong chance.

I’d say you are a good candidate. Females actually have an advantage in admissions to the engineering college.

There’s just one little hitch…

There is no undergrad aerospace engineering major at Cornell, so far as I’m aware.
Someone with such interests there would typically major in mechanical, and seek to specialize towards aerosapace later.

youre scores are really good! dont degrade them just because theyre not 100%. youre most likely going to get in

Monydad, I’m so glad you brought it up.
I can’t believe I didn’t know that!
Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I will take this into consideration!
