I am hoping to apply to Exeter for the 2009-2010 school year.I’ll be applying as a ninth grader. I was wondering if anybody could tell me how high my chances are of getting in and what I should do to improve. I have fairly high grades almost all in the high A range. I will apply as a financial aid student. As for extracurriculars I speak fluent Arabic and have tutored young children in english during the time I spent overseas in the summer. I have done two years of D.I.(Destination Imagination), I like to swim and play tennis, but I am not on any official teams.I wrote a little for a school news paper.Basically that is it,anyway so like I said if anyone has any suggestions for me, please share.

write good essays
do well on SSAT

Basically, your odds of getting in are 1 in 5. Not to be harsh, but that is the reality of it. If your goal is to go to boarding school for 9th grade, be sure to apply to a range of schools, not just those that have acceptance rates that are under 35 (or 20) per cent.

get more EC’s & add emphasis that your muslim and female. email the person that organizes the muslim society at exeter and say that your a prospective muslim student. talk to her. write your entrance essay on you being muslim and the impact is has on you. get your grades up to straight A’s. get 80% or above on SSAT’s. add emphasis on the Arabic too.you have to stand out, A’s are typical for all the applying students so is having good well rounded extracurriculars. the only thing that makes you look good to them (especially since your applying for financial aid) is that your muslim & female, speak arabic, and live in saudi arabia which is a muslim country.

Senay, how do you know so much about her? how do you know shes a girl and that she lives in Saudi Arabia

StarZ - She’s posted on another thread.

soso - I think senay gives you very good advice.

starz27, yeaaa i talked to her on her other post

neaotburrito-thanks!

1 in 5 i guess like brooklyn guy said, although you seem pretty qualified in your community service efforts and such, but i’m not one to judge since i’m an applicant myself

oh yeah i also do some volunteering in the hospital my parent’s work at sort of like a candy stripper type thing. forgot to mention that.
