What are my chances of getting into grad school?

I’m applied to 2 educational psychology programs. (Both public schools in PA) They require a composite 290 GRE score. I got 153 in verbal, 148 in quant, (301 composite) and 4.0 in writing. I graduated in 3.5 years with a major in psychology and a minor in education. I have a 3.59 GPA overall, and 2 really strong LOR. I also have been working as a crisis counselor for the Crisis Text Line (which i discussed in my personal statement) and have lots of extracurriculars. I’ve sumbitted the apps and am just waiting now. I’m just wondering if there is a chance of getting in or if I should stop before I get my hopes up?

Are these master’s programs or PhD programs?

Most programs require three letters of recommendation - are you sure you only needed two? Extracurriculars don’t matter for grad school unless they are directly related to your field (like volunteering for the crisis hotline at your college, or volunteering in a school or working directly with children).

If you’re applying for master’s programs, you sound like a pretty average to above-average candidate. If the programs are not super-competitive (for public colleges in PA, likely not) then you have pretty good prospects.

2 schools is a very low number to apply to. Your chances would be much higher if you widened your area as well as number of schools.

“…then you have pretty good prospects”

That is my guess also. I think the real question is where can you get in and what will it cost. Assuming a sensible range of schools applied to, your getting in somewhere seems highly likely to me.

I also agree with @Mandalorian that 2 schools is a small number to apply to. If you get into either then you are in good shape. If you don’t get into either, you might need to work for a year. However, I definitely wouldn’t give up in this case. If you apply to a wider range of schools next year you should be able to get into a good program.
