What are my chances of getting into Phillips Exeter, Phillips Andover, or The Lawrenceville School?

About Pingry, it turns out only three people from my school got in out of like 20 people who applied (all go waitlisted). The first guy was one of my friends and truly did deserve to get in as he’s really smart. I assume the second person got in as he put that he’s black (true), Native American (true), and gay? (not) on his application; and the third guy had two older siblings who went to Pingry and his parents donated about $30,000 I heard. So yeah…

Are you aware of what happens when you “assume”?

@iusedtobesmart is not a real applicant. There is no Calculus DE, “her” concerns are obviously ridiculous and we’re being brilliantly played. I think he is a Deerfield student, maybe one that works as a tour guide or otherwise in admissions and is making a great satiric account. I do hope he’ll keep going through March 10 or April 10, it does bring a light touch.

BTW, what are your chances of getting off a waitlist at Exeter/Andover? I hear they’re close to none?

@stalecookies
Assume? The only thing that isn’t a fact is him being gay or not.

@AKmath The old saying is “When you assume you make an ass out of u and me.”

Neither you nor I were part of the admissions team; it is mere speculation why one applicant is selected over another.

What I do know is that your statement about your classmate could be construed as rascist, and that more and more situations arise where someone’s “anonymous” posts in the past end up having a detremental effect on their future.

I’m fairly sure DE stands for dual enrollment - for high performing students in Florida.

Looking around, I found https://ths-ecsd-fl.schoolloop.com/math
“DE Calculus/Analytic Geometry - This course consists of elements of plane analytic geometry, differentiation of algebraic functions and integration of the polynomial functions with application. Meets A.A. general education Category III.”

And here I thought DE meant “Differential Equations”.

Then again, I initially thought @Trebuchet in post #96 was implying that the original poster of this thread was the faux applicant.

I agree. This person posted in different thread saying that he is a current Pingry student. In this thread he mistakingly claimed to expect Pingry decision on Feb 7. This seems to be fake. I won’t be wasting my time on this thread anymore. It is best to have conversation with real applicants and parents.

You are referring to @AKmath , while @Trebuchet is referring to @iusedtobesmart .

I think your hypothesis is more likely to be correct. Or, at the very least, you have found evidence that someone is more than stretching the truth.

I think there is a lot of truth stretching going on in various places, but yeah my comment is I think @iusedtobesmart is the apogee. Albeit in a brilliant satiric way, and I genuinely want to find out if they’re learning these skills> I think it is in a particular existing school because that would be a positive factor in thinking where to go.

Maybe I’m wrong, and someone is genuinely wondering about taking action against the SSAT for getting 97% in math or whatever it was and seriously wondering if Andover can handle their mad math skillz. Do they think they’re screwed by native English-speaking parents writing an essay four sentences too long? Tree v. cactus story is inspired. It’s a wonderful composite of deep anxieties.

Good luck March 10th everyone!

Alright, let me explain…

  1. Yeah, I’m sorry, I don’t why I said I go to Pingry, but my older brother does.
  2. As most of you know I got into Delbarton, whose decision letter cames way before most of the others. To keep your seat in Delbarton after a certain date, you need to pay $2,500. Pingry realize that many people had gotten into private schools that had early decisions and had to make a decision on that school (Delbarton in my case) before Pingry’s decision even came out. So they decided to give all the kids who’d been accepted to other schools an early read on Feb 7. But once they found out so many people had gotten into other schools, they “deferred” everyone to the normal decision date. So that’s what happened.

I agree. I saw the threads on his account and they seem ridiculous.

Lol, I swear I’m real!! DE is dual enrollment, I thought that was common knowledge. Idk, do you guys want me to screenshot my score report and transcript?

OK @iusedtobesmart LOL then just go easier on your parents and maybe enjoy life a bit more. Good luck next week.

All are more plausible than this one. I a

You mean AKMath, right?

@iusedtobesmart is a “white, Jewish, upper middle class, hetero-normative female.”

@stalecookies lol I didn’t realize how weird that sounded when I wrote it lmao

Guys, can you stop hijacking my thread, please.

Please do not! Please ignore people online who think you aren’t real and carry on.

Guys, as I said please stop hijacking my thread, thank you very much. M10 day is tomorrow and I’m, not gonna lie, I’m pretty nervous. I just had 2 quick Q’s though.

  1. What time does Exeter’s decision come out (Andover/L’ville have already told us)?
  2. Is it usual for Exeter to not respond/send any emails on anything after the interview? Andover and L’ville sent like a ton, my mom even sent a thank you email to my interviewer, and he didn’t even respond back like the other schools. Thoughts?
