What are my chances of getting into Phillips Exeter?

I’ve always gotten straight A’s, never a B.
I am currently in eighth grade, but I am applying next year during my freshman year for entry for my sophomore year.
I am in all pre-AP classes, and Algebra 1.
I have fantastic relationships with all of my teachers.
I am in National Junior Honor Society and the Duke TIP program.
I am on student council.
I currently do not play any sports, but I am active and I played volleyball from third grade to seventh, and I was really good. I’m not playing this year because the athletics class was during the only Algebra 1 period my junior high offers.
I go to a public school because there are no private schools in my town.
I’m number one grade wise out of my eighth grade class of approx. 250 students.
I haven’t taken my SSAT yet. I’m going to take it in September or October, and I already have the official study guide and the Princeton Review prep book. I study daily for about thirty minutes.
I took my SAT in seventh grade and got a 1510.
I am applying for financial aid, as my family is a family of five and my step-father only makes about $60,000 a year.
I am a Native American female.
I volunteer at various places for at least six to seven hours a week.

What chances do I have of getting into Phillips Exeter?
(Or other top boarding schools such as Choate, Andover, Deerfield, Hotchkiss, etc.)

*Oh, and I also play the flute. I’ve won several rewards for my playing and I maintain a constant first chair.

Being Native American is a huuuuuuuge booost. And if your family only makes 60k officially then you are up for a full scholarship. Focus on a Single EC and really try yo excel in it so that you have one area you really stand out in.

I agree being a native american does boost your chances quite a bit. IF you had more ECs you would have a terrific chance, ECs help a lot.

Instead of focusing on adding alot more EC’s, focus on increasing the quality of your current commitments. The AO’s are looking for kids who are passionate about something instead of just doing a bunch of random stuff they don’t really enjoy. Good Luck!

I also just wanted to say that I think Dartmouth has a special mission to recruit Native Americans. Do you participate in tribal activities? Do you have a tribal i.d. These are things if you are currently not doing that would be good. I’ve read that colleges (and most likely prep schools) look for how big a part being a Native American is in your life.

Good Luck!

Also, how your experiences as a Native American affect your viewpoint would be good to include in your essays if appropriate.
