Test Scores:
Just took my SAT and ACT’s. Onn the practice I got about 1880. I took a prep course so I’m hoping for 2000. I got a 29 on the practice ACT, I’m hoping for a 30.

Founder of Camp Swift Club (explained below)

Community Service:
Camp Swift (about 1500 hours)-Camp Swift is a summer camp for underprivileged inner-city children from the Phoenix area. The camp is planned and run by Jewish teenagers who volunteer their time not only during the summer, but throughout the year to plan camp and raise money. (These hours include 12 sessions of camp plus planning and fundraising throughout all four years)
I have participated in other community service projects including playing the piano for retirement home residents, assembling toiletry baskets for Hurricane Katrina victims, volunteering at food banks and homeless shelters, and American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. These other activities add up to roughly 200 hours total.

Other Important (or maybe not important?) Factors:
-I will be paying for my own college/graduate school
-My cousin is my legal guardian. My mother died when I was seven and I don’t know who my father is. I’m hoping I can use my experiences to write some compelling essays. Also, if you know of any scholarships for adopted, single-parent children, etc., that would be great!

I’d like to go to medical school eventually, but I don’t know if I necessarily want to major in science. I was thinking of Finance, Biomedical Engineering, Management Science, or Excercise Science.

I know this was really long. Thanks so much for your input!

I say you’d have a very good chance if you get the projected SAT score.

If you don’t mind me asking, why Rutgers? What other colleges are you considering?

On a side note, the fact that your cousin is your guardian could be helpful in terms of financial aid from schools. I’m not aware of any specific scholarships but I’m sure you’ll find a couple out there! Check with your guidance counselor or fastweb . com

This person is considering every college in the United States, because they’ve basically spammed every school’s board with ‘What are my chances of getting into ___’.

^ haha, really? Now I’m curious to check their posting history!

It’s not spam. I’m looking at about 15 schools. And yes, I copy/paste and adjust accordingly. I don’t see what’s wrong with that, if it bothers you then just don’t reply to my questions.

Mushabloomblue-Thanks for your response! I like Rutgers because it’s not TOO expensive compared to other schools, it has a good biomedical engineering program, and I’ve been to New Jersey and I liked it there a lot. Being far away from home is not an issue for me at all. I also think the campus is beautiful from the photos I’ve seen.

As diontechristmas pointed out so very kindly, I am looking at many schools including universities in California, Texas, Florida, the South, and a few other random ones. It’s still early for me so I’m hoping to narrow down my list a lot over the next couple of months, but it’s helpful to hear others’ opinions on the schools.

From your very large list of schools, it’s quite evident you have no idea what you want in a school. You have 21 schools listed, which is absolutely insane.

FAU could not be more different from Johns Hopkins.
Long Beach State could not be more different from Cornell.
Cal State Fullerton could not be more different from Rutgers.

It’s almost as if you’re just randomly picking schools out of a hat. The general consensus is 2 reaches, 2 matches, 2 safeties, not 3 reaches, 7 matches, 11 safeties.

Your posting is the epitome of excessive, and not doing any research whatsoever.

I wouldn’t really care, but one of the searchwords in your posts makes every single thread you’ve posted show up whenever I’m looking for something.

I hope you’re not applying to 15 schools! Those application fees add up over time!

But I understand why you have a lot of schools on your list. When I was compiling a list for colleges Junior year in high school, I had about 17 schools!

-5 small-sized liberal arts colleges (Wesleyan, Sarah Lawrence, Skidmore, Williams, and Amherst)

 • 4 large schools (Rutgers, UConn, Syracuse, and Penn State)
 • 3 all-girls schools (Barnard, Smith, and Mount Holyoke)
 • 2 ivy leagues (Columbia and Dartmouth)
 • 3 colleges in NYC (New York University, Hunter, and The New School)

I was just so ecstatic about colleges that I would spend every weekend researching them even if I knew I had a slim chance of getting in (thanks to my SAT score). They were different from one another: some with little to no school spirit, very large to very small, city versus rural, all girls versus co-ed. I ended up applying to only 3 college in the end.

Those are very good reasons to like Rutgers! It is a great school! I was just curious considering the distance. And I know one girl who came all the way from Arizona who attends Rutgers.

Diontechristmas, I do know what I want in a school. There just happen to be several schools that fit that criteria. And the “general consensus” refers to schools that I will actually apply to, not the ones in which I am expressing a mild interest. You may consider my research “excessive,” but I prefer to think of it as thorough. I believe it is important to see what actual students and parents have to say about each school.

Sorry for disrupting your search terms.

What do you want that has you looking at FAU and Hopkins, because they’re positively nothing alike.

Yea bro cut that list down to about 6-7 colleges…and Your in rutgres just make sure you apply before Mid-November

My sister goes to Rutgers in New Brunswick and shes not as good as you! You’ll surely get in. She got a 1200 out of 1600 on her SSAT. That sucks and she got in. Lol. Rutgers is great . I visted for a week. It’s rigorous!!! I might go there myself. Good luck. And you have a great record. :)!

1200/1600 does not suck, that’s like the 70th percentile in the U.S.

FAU because it is more affordable, in a great location, and not too difficult to get into.
i was considering hopkins because they have a fantastic premed program, i love baltimore, and i know someone who goes there and loves it. i changed my mind about hopkins because i decided it was too expensive and i’m unlikely to get in.

you will definitely get in

update: 28 ACT, 1870 SAT (610 CR, 610 Math, 650 Writing)
