So, I am now a junior (just ended my last sophomore semester) at Penn State University. I’m not very happy at my school and I’ve been taking pretty much only general education classes because I didn’t want to lock a major at this school. I want to major in Human Resource Management at the University of Pittsburgh. They don’t require you to submit any testing scores as a transfer student with many credits. So, pretty much the only thing they will be basing my acceptance on is my grades. My college GPA is 3.63 and my high school GPA was similar or maybe a bit lower than that. I’m usually very great at the personal essays and I believe my essays to be one of the major reasons I got into all the colleges I applied to when I was a freshman. Sadly, the UOP doesn’t have much of an essay section to it. They only have two short answer questions of “Describe your life and work experiences since you graduated from high school” and “If you had any challenges in your academic studies, what changes have you made to be more successful in the future?” I’m sure I can come up with something good for that part. My only issue is that the HR major I want to do is in the business school because all the classes they say that they look at to consider for transfer I haven’t taken. “The committee will also look carefully at your math and economics grades. We pay special attention to these grades, as they help to indicate if you will be successful in business classes. Generally, a student with a 3.00 or higher college GPA, and grades of A’s and B’s in courses such as calculus, microeconomics, and macroeconomics would be competitive for transfer admission.” I late dropped statistics because I hated the teacher but I tested into the highest math Penn State offers. I took an easy math my freshman year that I now regret because I didn’t want to take a more challenging one, even though I tested into the highest. Otherwise, in college, I have never taken a math class or economics class. I wish HR was counted in a different school sometimes because I really don’t feel that it is THAT dependent on math. Anyways, I was accepted to Pitt Johnstown when I was applying to colleges as a high school senior but am now applying to the main. I am going to list on my application that I will take an economics course over the summer. What do you think my chances are?
Did you get in?
