What are my chances of getting into UCLA/UCB/Columbia as an Econ/Poli Sci Major

So I’m a student in a community college and I’m applying this semester. I was wondering if my extra curriculars + my 4.0 GPA is competitive enough:

  • Former President of Model United Nations in high school and College.
    • Attended 4 MUN conferences and an congress simulation conference. (I won 3 awards)
  • Director of Public Relations for the Students for Justice in Palestine
  • 4.0 GPA (so far)
  • Vice President of Student Body Government in college, vice president in high school
  • Board member in an honor society on campus. (Phi Theta Kappa)
  • Extremely involved on campus projects/facilities/initiatives
  • 1610/2400 in the old SAT (Retaking it)
  • Semi-fluent in Arabic
  • Interned at a law firm
  • Worked for a Political Institute
Is there anything else I should incorporate/do more of prior to my application?
And does anyone know any scholarships that might help? Thanks!

Do not retake the SAT. That is an extreme waste of time as the UCs will not consider it as you are a Transfer Student.

Assuming all your prerequisites are met and IGETC is complete, you are a competitive applicant. Make sure you write good essays as UCLA/UCB consider that to be important.

That’s awesome! Thanks!
But what about Columbia? As of right now, I’m a part of a transfer program to the UC system, so I’m pretty confident about that. Columbia is the university that I’ve got my eye on.

You know, I completely missed Columbia. I’m not sure about their transfer policies, but your GPA is solid and your ECs are solid.

If they require the SAT, I guess you can retake. Otherwise you’re very competitive.
