By the time I graduate high school I will of taken 4 history classes, 4 language arts classes, 4 math classes, 4 Science classes, 2 spanish classes, 1 or 2 art classes, and 1 ore 2 multimedia classes. Is this good for the class requirements and what else will I need to do make the requirements? Thanks in advance!

I forgot to mention that for extra curricular activities I’ve been doing club swimming for 4.5 years will be 7 years by the time I start college and so far I haven’t taken any breaks over 2 weeks and that was only for school.

Okay for more information I’ve never gotten anything below a b and I currently have two a’s and one b. I haven’t really been keeping track of my community service but I got 40 hours of community service this summer for volunteering at my school.

For my PSAT I got a 53 in critical reading, a 44 in math, and a 43 in writing skills.

Do you know about the A-G requirements that the UC’s follow? If you don’t look here: http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/paths_to_adm/freshman/subject_reqs.html You’re okay for those.

As far as your grades, I won’t know your chances unless you say what GPA you have and how many honors/AP courses you’ve taken. I won’t know how well you stand for your EC’s because you haven’t listed any leadership roles. UC’s want to see the words “officer”, “president”, or “treasurer” around your application.

For your PSAT, that isn’t a strong turnout. Make sure you study well and learn from mistakes. You should shoot for between 1800 and 2100 to be in the median 50%. I assure you can do it if you have effective preparation. If you want to submit your ACT score, the median is 24-30. Shoot higher to improve your chances of getting in. Also, you’ll need to report at least two SAT subject tests. If you don’t know what they are, they test what you’ve learned in various courses. I believe you’ll need to take math level 2 and I suggest picking the subjects you do best.

Are you in the middle of your sophomore year? You mentioned you’d have 2 1/2 more years of swimming when you graduate. You have plenty of time. I scored a 150 on PSAT my sophomore year and it shot up to 201 my junior year. Keep studying and you’ll do well.

Right now, you have very little chance for UCSD. Don’t stress though, you haven’t even taken the actual SAT yet so you have time. You need a GPA of about 4.15 and SAT around 2050 i’d say to have a decent shot. Good luck!
