I am an in-state Asian male who is applying for both UF and USF as a Chemistry major. Both of my parents have college degrees (dad has a PhD and my mom has a bachelor’s degree). My UF weighted GPA is a 3.8 (I did really well in my AP classes though), I have an ACT score of 34, SAT subject tests (Chemistry 710, Biology 650, US History 800), and somewhat strong ECs (performed Indian classical music with top artists on stage and received an award of excellence, made it to the national-level History Bee competition as a team, made it to FBLA’s state-level competition, programmer on my school’s robotics team). I also had my essay reviewed by several people, who told me that my essay is very well written. I also have volunteer experience in community cleanups, local cultural events, and with a local religious organization (not officially counted because the county where I go to school in does not accept volunteer work done at places of worship).
Taking all of this into account, what would be my chances of making it into UF or USF, considering my rather low GPA.
