What are my chances of getting into UVA or NYU?

I am currently a junior at a Virginia school hoping to go to either UVA or NYU. UVA would be the best choice for me because the in-state tuition is much cheaper than NYU’s out-of-state, private tuition, but I would still attend NYU if I got accepted and rejected at UVA. I would like to major in Business and minor in Computer Science.

GPA: 4.1 (4.3-4.4 by the end of junior year because I currently have a 5.0 GPA for this year)
Class Rank: 106/440 (My school is very competitive but I will probably be within top 50 by the end of this year)
SAT: Not taken, but I received a 1250 on the PSAT and hoping to receive 1450+ on the SAT

However my grades have improved a lot this year (junior year) and I am confident it will continue to improve my senior year. I am going to retake AP Calculus next year to replace my C+ and I am hoping to retake Spanish 1,2,3 during the summer to replace those B’s with A+ or A.

Can you afford NYU? The costs are more than $70,000 per year, and they go up every year – and NYU is infamous for not giving much financial aid. Unless you have the money, I wouldn’t bother applying and would focus on more affordable choices.

You will need a much higher standardized test score in order to have a reasonable chance of admission.

Consider applying to nine (9) universities. Three reach, three match & three safety schools.

Yes, we can afford it but UVA would be preferable because it is cheaper and we would save more money but we are able to afford the cost to go to NYU as well

UVA is no shoo in even for top performers with legacy. And despite your school’s weighting, adcoms will look at the transcript and see the B and C grades, including in trig and calc- math matters for stem and business. (Plus, you aren’t projecting physics, which they’ll want to see, for stem.)

And even if you hit top 50, that’s outside top ten percent. Add to that, you tell no AP test scores. Honor societies don’t tip. What CS or business experience outside hs?

Last, the competition in N.Va is even tougher, if that’s where you are.
Be sure you have happy, affordable safeties.

With a 1400+ on the SAT and great essays I think you could get into both

Update- I received a 1430 on the June Sat and my AP scores are as follows.
AP Computer Science Principles: 4
AP English Language: 4
AP Psychology: 5
AP Biology: 3
AP US History: 3
AP Statistics; 4
