Hey guys I’m just curious what are my chance getting into Cal Poly Slo with the following criteria?
Academics:
Overall GPA - 3.2
Went from 2.6 freshman year to having 3.8 2nd semester junior year
32 ACT
Athletics:
Lacrosse 9th-11th
Rugby 11th
Extracurriculars:
Worked Internship with Jewish Federation learning about marketing and producing social media
Worked with international non-profit, helped businessmen in Nigeria with simple tasks they couldn’t figure out
Eagle Scout
Discovery Award (Venture Scouting)
School Newspaper section writer (sophomore) and arts section editor (junior-senior)
Letter of Reqs:
One from business man i helped in Nigeria handwritten in his native language with translated copy
One from Newspaper adviser who I have worked with for over 3 years

I’m not familiar with California schools, but according to their Common Data Set (http://content-calpoly-edu.s3.amazonaws.com/ir/1/images/CDS_2015-2016_Student%20Cost%20Updated%206_2016_0.pdf), their 75th percentile ACT composite is 31 and 97% of their enrolled students had GPAs above 3.24
They also listed both Standardized Testing and GPAs as “very important.”
Intended major is important at SLO, what do you area of study do you plan to pursue?
You have a very competitive ACT but even with such huge grade improvement, your GPA will be problematic. SLO uses 9-11th grades in their GPA calculation with a cap of 8 semester of Honors/AP/IB or DE courses. SLO also uses an MCA score to determine admissions. EC’s unfortunately are only 10% of the MCA points but if they directly related to your major, then you get bonus points.
