Hello!
I know that evaluating chances is hard, but if someone can give me an idea of my chances to get into Phillips Academy ( Andover), Choate Rosemary, and The Lawrenceville School, I would be very grateful! If it helps, I am applying to the 9th grade.
Here is a summary of my whole application:
I am a white or Middle Eastern male. Currently, I live in the UAE, but I am from Russia. My mom is from Turkmenistan, and my dad is from Israel. As for my extracurriculars, I was a member of an advanced math club and swimming team in Russia ( I know it sounds like a lack of extracurricular activities, but in Russia, there was little to no opportunity for them). In Russia, I went to an advanced math school where I maintained all As except for geography ( B). In Russia, it is okay to have a B in one subject because your schedule is totally predetermined, and there are no electives. In Dubai, I attend an American school, and here, all my grades are As except for PE (B). In both Russian and Dubai schools, there are no pluses or minuses.
My achievements are as follows:
-
Member of the Middle School Innovation Robotics Team (Dubai American Academy) - 2023-2024 year. To clarify, it is not easy to become a member of this team, as there was a strict selection of the best students.
-
Transition from 6th grade (Moscow school) to 8th grade (Dubai American Academy) - 2023-2024 year. I am not sure if this is an achievement, but as for me, it was because I was selected for 8th grade because of my excellent CAT test scores.
-
All-Russian Olympiad of schoolchildren in English language, prize winner - 2022 year
-
All-Russian Olympiad of schoolchildren - Mathematics, prize winner - 2020 year. It’s a really hard competition. For instance, if I was a bit older ( 9th grade), I would qualify for IMO ( International Mathematical Olympiad).
Also, I have no legacy, and my MAP test scores are 99th percentile in math, and language usage; 95th percentile in reading, and 93th percentile in science (I didn’t study chemistry before). My interviews went quite well, but judging the outcome of them is too hard for me. My ISEE scores are 98th percentile in Math Achievement, 92th percentile in Reading Comprehension, 90th percentile in Quantitative Reasoning, and 76th percentile in Verbal Reasoning. My TOEFL IBT scores are 110/120 ( Total), 22/30 ( Speaking), 28/30 ( Writing), 30/30 ( Reading), 30/30 ( Listening). Furthermore, in Russia, I helped an orphanage through volunteering, and in Dubai, I help others in math. By the way, I wanted to say that I am not a native speaker, and throughout my life, I lived in Russia. I have been living in Dubai only for several months, and only these months, I’ve been living in an English-speaking society. Additionally, I think my short answers and essays are pretty good. My essay explored the topic of self-censorship and my experience regarding it.
Thank you for any help you can provide, and good luck to everyone applying to these and other schools!
