I think you will need to boost your GPA/SAT's to gain acceptances at HYP. (As of right now, I don't think you have much of a chance unless you have a huge hook) First of all, you are classified an Asian, so it's kinda harder to get in (with other Asians getting 4.0 with 2400 SAT) Also, if you are from a public school, 3.7 is only mediocre or below average for HYPS. (if you are in some competitive high school, it would be a different case) And try to pull up SAT to 2250+ and SAT 2's to at least 710. Test scores are the most problematic ones here.

Cornell may be do-able. Otherwise agree with kjin. You should be looking at good schools a step below HPYS. Here's a list of schools you might want to consider:

Northwestern
Wesleyan
Johns Hopkins
Carleton
Vassar
William and Mary
University of Virginia
Carnegie Mellon
Tufts
Washington and Lee
Emory
Vanderbilt
Notre Dame
Georgetown
Bowdoin
Haverford
Macalester
Davidson
Colby
Univer. Of Southern CA
Colgate
Brandeis
Oberlin
Bates
Tulane
Hamilton
Grinnell
Bard
Wake Forest
U of C Berkley
Kenyon
Connecticut College
Boston College
University of Richmond
Univ. of Rochester
NYU
Lehigh
Case Western
University of Michigan
Trinity

The more selective schools are towards the top, less selective towards the bottom.

Honestly less than a 5% shot at all of them. Aim for Northwestern, Rice, etc as your reaches. I think you'll get into the Emory/ Michigan range of schools.

Hmm research a little more on your safeties

cancelling email notification

No shot. Average Asian candidate.

In all honesty, no chance.

agree...............

good luck. anything is possible

Your 620 will kill your application at HYPS. Sorry, hate to say it, but it's true. The other Asian girls you'll be competing with will have 2400s, perfect GPAs, Intel Awards, volunteer service at hospitals in China where they delivered babies and treated SARS victims, chess, badminton, tennis, horseback riding, and swimming national championship awards, fluency in dozens of languages, and...well you get the picture.

The good news is there are still plenty of places you can get in. Your application is strong, and you would have a very good chance of admission at schools like Northwestern, Tufts, Georgetown, NYU, Emory, UCLA, C.ornell, and Rice Who knows? You might even like it there better!

i think you have a great chance if you write 'black' on your application..
