What are my chances? What should I add? [international transfer student]

This is what UC Berkeley’s website states for selecting HAAS applicants:

Our admissions committee seeks individuals who demonstrate promise for academic success and excellence in non-academic endeavors. Some key qualities and characteristics that we look for in undergraduate program applicants are:

  • Academic achievement, including grades, course load, consistent academic excellence, and high performance in prerequisite courses,
  • Consistency and impact in extracurricular activities,
  • Personal attributes and life experience suggesting leadership, maturity, ethical character, teamwork, and goal orientation, and
  • Communication and analytical skills as demonstrated by responses to essay questions.

OK I understand that reasoning.

What if you don’t get in? You have the advantage that your full pay, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll get in.

Those top 20 schools are really limited in seats. Shoot your shot.

Thats why I am questioning. What could I do for Ecs and everything. Is it good the way it is?

Focus on maintaining high grades.

You seem to want to add ECs. Adding a new EC, may be noticed, but may not be beneficial for admission. Your essays and LORs will count.

The schools value quality over quantity. You’re not supposed to have a “laundry list” of 40 activities. You’re supposed to have ECs that are meaningful to you, and have been “long term”.
