Hey CC community;

So my goal is to attend a Harvard or Yale type school, and I will be applying to one of those early this coming year ( I’m currently a junior). My question is about what I should do in the near future, but before I ask let me give you some background:

19 classes at Univeristy and AP
AP Scores:
Human - 5
Computer science A - 5
Environmental - 5
Physics 1 - 3
Chemistry - Took class but canceled score!

Currently Taking:

AP Calc BC, AP Lang, AP Stat, and AP Psych
At Seminole State College: Business Law and Global Marketing
At the University of Central Florida: Independent study around my research

PSAT Score: 1490/1520, 99th percentile
I just took the SAT, and will take a Math II and Physics Subject tests

ECs:

So here is my conundrum: I applied to the Kennedy Lugar Youth Exchange and Study, and I received a full scholarship to study my senior year of high school in Thailand - I’m am not currently sure how this would effect my current class rank. Alternatively, I applied to the summer Young Scholars Program at Florida State University. This is a science research program that generally gets people into CalTech. I cannot do YSP if I do the year abroad because of dates. However there is no guarantee that I’ll get into YSP. In adittion, next year if I do not go abroad I can full time dual enroll at the university of central Florida and do more research. So my question is: if I want to apply to Harvard/Yale, what are my chances and should I do the Year abroad or wait and see about YSP and do full time dual enrollment next year? Thanks so much for your help! Also, what are my chances at schools like those?

FYI I have sibling legacy at Harvard and Parentsl Legacy at Yale

Please just give me an idea of what you think my chances are!

Chance for chance?

I think you’re pretty good for yale or other ivy schools. Harvard I’m not super sure, just because thats “Harvard”

No one is “good” for any Ivy schools. There is no guarantee. And if younposted this in the chances forum, that is where it needed to stay. Your conundrum is not any different from chance me. Do the Sumer program you are most interested in. Either looks good.

You look exceptional but exceptional is no guarantee. So I would pursue the course that most interests you. Personally, a year abroad in Thailand sounds like a unique experience. It’s also a lovely country.
