What are my chances with 2.7 gpa?

I am currently a junior and with hold a gpa of 2.7 and scored a 1500 on my SAT. My parents got a divorce, my grandpa died, and I had to move during my high school career which really effected my grades. I am currently vice president of a global action club at school, apart of student auxiliary, youth leader at my church, been on countless mission trips, and have been working at the YMCA since I was a sophomore. I really want to go to either Ohio university or Susquehanna university. What are my chances? What other schools can I get into? Any tips? Thank you so much!!!

Some one please give me an answer, all advice is much appreciated. (no matter how harsh)

P.S I’m a Caucasian female, live in the suburbs of nj, and my public hs is one of the highest ranked in state and is academically really hard.

1500 out of 1600 or 2400? If out of 1600, you’ll have a decent chance. If out of 2400, you might want to re-test, but looking at Susquehanna’s range, you’re not too far off. If you can, bringing up your GPA would probably help. You have good ECs with leadership positions, so that will help. Make sure you write good essays, get good letters of recommendation, and showing interest in a school definitely wouldn’t hurt (contact the admissions office, take tours, etc.) This is just my opinion, but good luck!

It was out of 2400 -____- but I’m retaking the SATs in September and going to take the acts, as well. Thanks for the advice!

My cousin got into Ohio University with a 3.0, but a 1900 SAT. But thing is…he’s asian! Admissions are harsher on asians so yeah. If I were you, I’d re-take the test and attempt to do better on it. Buy the CollegeBoard SAT review book (: It does wonders! As far as your extracurriculars go, I think you’re good only if you were consistent in those clubs–as in, you weren’t in one of them for a year but stopped. Good luck!

Thanks for the help!! :)
