I’m from Vietnam. Next year my family will be moving to the U.S as immigrants. I’m in my year 10 atm. My average is 88% the first semester but I’m pretty sure I can get above 90 on the next one. I didn’t actually do any TOEFL or IELTs test since I thought I’d be an american citizen anyway but I’m pretty sure I can manage to get a high GPA at an american high school. I have done quite a lot charity works in my home country. I’m prepping for my SAT test and I’ll try to get above 1900 or 2000 if possible.
I want to go to Stanford, Yale, or Berkeley. Do I have any chances?

You need more on the SATs. What are your extracurriculars?

^ I helped out at some mental hospitals supporting the poor sometimes on the weekends. I study boxing after school.
Btw when prepping for the SATs, should I go to those prep classes, or just study by myself? I’m pretty clueless right now, like literally, I know that the ones on the net aren’t real, but I did try doing some sample tests. And to be honest, I couldn’t do it.
And yeah, prep courses are pretty cheap in my country, about nearly 500 bucks for 10 weeks, so I don’t mind them at all. Though their scores can be a bit low, 1950 average.

Try Khan Academy for SAT Math practice. Its pretty great. Here’s the link-

As for the other two sections, it depends on how good you are in English. If you are good you just need a bit of practice, otherwise you might need to improve your vocabulary. You said you couldn’t solve many questions online. Did you try this website- SAT Papers Free Download Previous Years Question Papers?
If you still feel hardpressed I strongly recommend you go for classes.
Try making a list of all your extra curriculars. The hospital thing is great. How advanced are you in boxing? Are you passionate?
A good essay really increases your chances to get in.
Keep up the good grades, try to increase them if possible. In the next two years, try to participate in more ECs. Try to win some awards in boxing. Do some more community service. Prepare well for the SATs. You should have good chances of getting in.
And yes, do you need financial aid? If no, that is a plus point too. :)

A couple more things. If you know some extra language that is a plus point too. What do you speak in Vietnam? And a SAT score of 2300+ is required for the top schools. These papers may help- http://pcmbtoday.com/index.phpmain_page=advanced_search_result&keyword=instant&search_in_description=1&categories_id=21&inc_subcat=1

Remember that you also need to take buttloads of AP classes and SAT II scores.

Best of luck

We speak Vietnamese in Vietnam.
I do boxing as a hobby to keep me fit, so no awards, sadly.
Does drawing comics help? It’s another hobby of mine too, I just admitted to a contest. If I win, will that help me in any way? I’m aiming to be a psychiatrist so I’m probably going to study some science-related subjects that will get me into med school.
Don’t they have student loans in the U.S? Do they charge interest? My mom wants me to be independent and she says she won’t give me money. But if the loan thing doesn’t work out, I can just borrow money from her.

And I think there’s this test for foreigners like me. The kind which they decide which grade I’ll be in? If I have to study grade 10 again, will that affect my admission?
