i am a white girl from a small town in upstate ny… what kind of shot do i have at nd? id appricate any thoughts. thanks!

i would say…yes good cept math which since they do require its okay but everything else is real good

I think you have a great chance if your essay and rec are good. You do USA swimming too? I hope admissions realizes how time consuming it is! What is your stroke/event?

Yes, fellow swimmers! I was in USA Swimming for YEARS and was a butterflier

Anyways, you have a good shot I would say, I bet you get in. Good luck!

Do the swim coaches have any pull for a National ranked swimmer with an Olympic Time trial cut?

Yes, they do have some pull I believe

for Notre Dame they have some pull…other schools where swimming isn’t as good or popular…but I have no idea how much

Your SAT II Math is kind of low - - - retake.

I disagree, ND is not one that really looks at SAT II’s so I think it wouldn’t be worth retaking that test just for ND. ND looks at them as supplimental but the SAT I is far more important. I think the score should be fine.

Thats good to hear, I really wasn’t planning on retaking my sat IIs… or anything for that matter. As for swimming, I swim breaststroke and butterfly. I’m not very fast though…

That is alright, not everyone is a recruited athlete. I was always the type where I was one of the fastest in practice but was way behind in the meets (I worked my butt off but just didn’t have something, I don’t know what). I drew a little D3 interest but not all that much, but I didn’t swim for that.

Let’s be honest, anyone who actually has met me can tell you that I have the same type of numbers as the offensive linemen ND brings in (except I am no longer as muscular, used to be decent) and really I should have played football. I just didn’t have the mentality or the passion for football, however. Swimming was my passion and I loved it and I hope to do masters swimming one day down the road.

Anyways, no worries, you don’t have to be great because just being a USS swimmer will show that you have time management skills!

Along those same lines, in your opinion will admissions take into consideration that a kid who does USA swimming 20 hours a week won’t have as many clubs and activities as the “10 clubs/activities but no time committment” type of kid?
About the SAT IIs, I wouldn’t retake them. I didn’t even send mine. I don’t think ND really considers them unless you get 5x800s or something.

Either that or 5x200. I think they will take that into account and keep in mind what they say in Chat Time all the time. They aren’t looking for you to be in 50 different clubs but what they want to see is significant commitment to a few. Being on a high school team and a USS team I definately think would count. Being in 50 clubs just your senior year, however, just so you can put them down is not going to help you.
