<p>If i was a college admissions board, I would think that you are BSing with the 1000 hours of community service. I know a lot of people who do a LOT of community service, and they are no where NEAR a 1000 hours. No rank?</p>

<p>Well its been 3.5 years since 9th grade summer, so you’re averaging roughly 6 hours a week on volunteering plus ec’s, plus school? Well even if you are, Id try to prove it to admissions board or that BS flag is gonna fly right up</p>

<p>i do way more, i do too many to record them! i have volunteered for 3 years straight for some campaign, sometimes 14hrs/day (that was like 2 weeks in 1 season)</p>
<p>ann arbor seems like a match for you… but if you’re applying now, it might be a reach. penn, cornell, uchicago are also reach for you. im not sure about notre dame though, i dont know much about the school.</p>

<p>do this ap classes give weighted credit? cuz a weighted 3.6 may not be good enough, especially for UChicago and Cornell.</p>
<p>From the information you’re presenting you seem like a good candidate for those schools. However, what are the details? “6 extracurriculars” could show either a dedication for a few fields you’re passionate about OR a lack of focus, depending on what they are and how much time/effort you’ve put into them.</p>
<p>The community service, as you can probably tell from everyone’s disbelief, seems to be your strongest point! If you highlight this in your application, probably writing about it in your essay and talking about what it means to you, it will give you an advantage.</p>

<p>i agree with the community service being a huge advantage in your application and perhaps, in the essay. i don’t think its bs, it is possible if you start early.</p>

I have a 3.6 UW and a 1420 with strong ECs varsity sports lots of volunteer n club leadership presidencies, science bowl, work, etc
my rank is pretty low though, something like 110/750
is it a long reach to apply now?</p>
