What are my Chances?

<p>Hello! I am applying to McDaniel College in Westminster, MD, for the Spring 2014 semester. I want to know what you think my chances of getting admitted into this institute are. Also, I appreciate any and all advice regarding how to improve my shots at getting admitted. I am currently attending a CC in Tennessee, and will be graduating in December, and then hopefully transferring to McDaniel next January. So here goes:</p>

<p>Scores/Grades</p>

<p>Current College GPA: 3.75 (not weighted)
High School GPA: 3.95
ACT: 23</p>

<p>Honors</p>

<p>Phi Theta Kappa (CC honor society, 3.5 GPA min at my CC)
Graduating in the top 5-10% of my CC
Dean’s List- 3X; President’s List- 1X
Graduated in the top 5% of my High School (class size was around 700 students)</p>

<p>Work Experience</p>

<p>Big Lots from August 2012-August 2013 as a Sales Associate
Dollar General from May 2011-September 2011 as a Sales Associate
Wendy’s from May 2010-August 2010 as a Cashier
Paid student tutor during the whole time I was at the CC (August 2011-present/December 2013)</p>

<p>Volunteer Experience</p>

<p>Volunteered at the local library for 3 years, during the Summer time
Led my church’s Youth Group in a Royal Ambassador’s Program for 2 years
Helped with Coat’s for the Cold for 2 years (giving out coats/blankets/food during the Winter months to those who needed it)</p>

<p>Recommendation Letters</p>

<p>I have 2 fantastic recommendation letters. One is from a Psychology teacher I had (which also happens to be my major), and another is from the person I worked for during my time as a student tutor at the CC.</p>

<p>Not taking in account the personal essay I have to write for the Common App, what do you say my chances are of getting admitted into McDaniel College?</p>

<p>I don’t know a lot about transferring but generally its easier to enter a college as a transfer student. your grades and EC’s are plenty strong enough. McDaniel has a 75% acceptance rate so I think you’re probably good to go.</p>

<p>I don’t know much about transferring, being a prospective freshman myself. However considering McDaniel’s middle 50% profile I think you have a decent chance of getting in. Retaking the ACT may help but I don’t think it’s strongly needed.</p>

<p>Thanks for the answers!! I have read up on McDaniel’s admission checklist, and they say that after 30 credit hours at a college, they don’t even look at your ACT/SAT scores. And they also have a scholarship that pays half of your tuition as long as you are in the PTK and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 at your CC/other college you’re transferring from. So I guess I’m good to go since I’m part of the PTK and have a 3.75.</p>

<p>Another question. With this knowledge, does the essay really even matter that much??</p>
