What are my chances?

Do colleges like UCSD, FIU, Northeastern university, montclair state university, and University of San Diego look at your first semester of senior year? I’m taking three honors classes(pre calculus, English 4, and spanish 3) and my cgpa is 2.8. I want atleast a 3.0 my the end of the first semester. Will this make any difference? Thanks.

UCSD does not consider your Senior grades for admission purposes. USD will ask for a Senior Mid-year report so bumping up your GPA will help but it would still be a Reach just based on a 3.0 GPA. I know nothing about the rest of the schools on your list. If you are in-state California, there are several Cal states where a 2.8-3.0 GPA would be accepted. What are your test scores? EC’s? Will you have good LOR’s?

USD Freshman Profile
First-Year Student Academic Background
Average college prep GPA (weighted) 3.84

  • 25th and 75th percentile GPA 3.58-4.12
    Average SAT I score 1208
  • 25th and 75th percentile SAT I scores 1120-1300
    Average ACT composite score 28

You have no chance at Northeastern. You would need a GPA of 3.75+ to be competitive.
