My sister is in the process of applying to all Ivy Leagues + Rice, Vanderbilt, Notre Dame and UNC at chapel hill.
Her scores: SAT 1540 (780+760), TOEFL 117/120 and yet to write subject tests in Oct. Her acads from 9th standard
to 11th 92+ and lot of extra curricular. What are her chances for Fall, 2018? Thanks in advance.
Good chance.
Tell her to apply to safeties too. There is actually a reasonably possible chance she could get rejected by every one of those colleges, given that the highest acceptance rate in that list is 18.7%. If she is an Indian international student and needs financial aid, then there is a very possible chance (perhaps even more likely than not) that she could get rejected by all of them.
Yea I would say reaches. A 1540 is nothing spectacular for those schools, and her extracurriculars neeed to have some sort of meaning to her and explain that. All Ivy leagues is a bit of a stretch, as it would appear she is looking for name rather than what suits her (Yale is good for CS and acting while Brown is good for premed, Harvard for law and Penn for finance) so it is quite concerning she is adding colleges based on name. Furthermore, there is little detail in her ECs which could make all the difference. UNC is actually a match for her, so she has a good chance at it. Everything else is a reach in her case. Hope the best!!
