Note: My school did not offer the dual enrollment courses I took. I took actual college courses at an university and got them registered onto my high school transcript. I took the most rigorous courses available at my high school and went beyond to take college courses. My counselor says I took the most rigorous courseload she’s ever seen at our school.

Class Rank: Idk, I was 2 but because of how my DE courses registered, I probably dropped to somewhere in the lower top 10.

School’s I want to get in to: NYU, UCLA, UPenn, Rutgers, UTK

Major: Biology/Pre-med

ACT: 34 composite in 1 seating
ACT Essay: 8
ACT Superscore: 34

SAT: 1490 (First try, might take again)
SAT Essay: 15
SAT II: None

Personally, I think I’ll get into Rutgers and UTK easily but I’m guessing my extracurriculars are a little weak for the other schools? Also my essay scores seem a bit skewed. Should I take any SAT Subject tests? Should I even send my SAT score in?

Are you okay with being full pay at all of these schools, or have you run the NPC and are you fine with the results? If you are full pay, does this leave enough money in your parent’s bank account to cover medical school?

I agree that you should get into UTK. I don’t know if I would count an out of state public as a safety, but I think that your chances are very good at Rutgers. Given the quality of at least UTK as a safety I feel less concerned about the other schools on your list. I think that your chances are good at NYU but it might be expensive. UCLA would very likely be full pay since you are out of state. U.Penn I just can’t guess.

If you are premed, then do not take on debt for undergrad if you have a good alternative. You will have plenty enough debt if you end up in medical school.

Why not Vanderbilt since you’re from Tennessee? You will pay about the same as UCLA.

I might consider Emory or Tulane as well as good options. Case Western might be a good choice as well.

NYU is going to be expensive and gives little aid.

The post above gives good advice. You don’t want to take on too much undergraduate debt as a pre-med. I would also look for a school that does not practice grade deflation since Biology and Chemistry are going to be weed-out courses.
