well i will still believe i can get in.
im minority, international, and for me the sat is really hard since english is not my first language… they dont loke my sat all entire… for verbal and writting section they change it with my toefl that i passed and well as for math is really low, but still i think i can get in. there is a lot of good things and one thing wont chenge it all,

The “very important” things are not ordered from most important to least important… so the Standardized test scores + GPA are probably on the top of the list.

:/ If you say English is very hard for you… why do you want to go to a school where all your classes will be in English (well, I guess language classes might be different)? I don’t mean to be rude in any way, but from the things you have written in this thread such as “they don’t look my sat all entire” and “they change it with my TOEFL” and “there is a lot of good things,” I don’t think your essay can be that “excellent.”

I don’t think you would have much of a chance of getting into Washu :[

i love how posters ask for opinions, other people give them, and then the poster is just like “yeah, im gonna get in anyway… does anyone else have an opinion?”

wash u is one of America’s most elite universities… kids with 4.0s and 1400+ on TWO sections dont get in…

thanx polite… lol…
anyways we will see if i get in… but she said the truth… you are not the only one trying to get in… and that make and effort… because i did it… the only part i didnt effort was the sat…everything else i did effort…and well lets see… i just dont came here to fight or anything… just try to treat people better… even tho you dont actually know them

here aresome of the things i do…
well yes… my sats is really low.because i didnt study at all.lol … but as you say i hope that my extracurricular activities and everything will help me in… well i have a lot of things to offer… i just graduate and this year i was in my school play two years: into the woods this years (i played jacks mother) and last years one that was speacially made to celebrate the 50th years of my school ( i was part of the chorus), i play a lot of instruments: piano 15 years, saxophone soprano, lire, sing, dance: i was in some dance festivals, ihad a lot of school spirit, i march for 5 years in the national marching day playing the lire andthe saxophone tenor, won the art medal of my class, em won a lot of concerts, went to the international bibble concert,i organize many events to celebreta jewish festivities, went this last 4 years to a lidership course of bnai brit international, i was part of diferent international organization: yad vashem, wizo, bnai brit. did twice an army trainning in israel and went to israel to a lidership course of 1 month, was the lider of a group of girl all year in a youth movement called macabi, i was in advanced physics, math, hebrew, i have work experiences: was lider in a camp in baltimore, lider also in a camp here in panama of little kids, im working right now in my dads shoe store in colon free zone… welli dont really have my activity chart here with me so i dont remember everything, but there is a lot more…

WashU is definitely a reach because of the sheer numbers of high stats kids they have applying. Still, they may be looking to boost the numbers of international students this year — that geographical diversity benefits the student body overall and could be your “hook.” Your class rank might suggest to the adcom that you can handle college work despite low SAT scores and you sound like your personality and moxie would come across in an application. I don’t know how much leeway is given on the SAT for foreign, non-English speakers. Have you visited? Are you seeking financial aid or can you pay full freight? Did you indicate a not-heavily-sought-after major such as something in the humanities as opposed to the science, pre-med majors? Or, as a female, did you indicate engineering (seems to help at MIT and elsewhere)? All these factors could have an impact.

I really hope you have not applied to only two schools. You know, there’s a thread somewhere on the forum that mentions colleges that are still accepting applications even now.

hi jazzymom, how do you know so many things, is your son o daughter in WASHU…
im applying for a major in architecture…
also i come from a family of 10 members including me…and i cant afford college… so i have applied to two scholarship and financial aid too
