What are my chances...?

of getting into Scripps.

I am a junior in high school right now.

gpa-
weighted - 4.17
unweighted- 3.8
rank- 46/300
i am in the top 15% right now. but note that i am still a junior. last year i took 2 honors and 1 ap class. i got a 3 on the ap european history exam.
this year im taking 2 honors and 2 ap classes. my gpa is higher this year- right now i have a 4.4 but hoping to bring it up to at least a 4.6.so hopefully my rank will at least be in the top 10% by the end of this year.
act- 29 taking it again to hopefully raise my score.
taking the sat in the spring…

other stuff-
varsity basketball (will be for all 4 years)
volunteer work…
in a few clubs

what are my chances of getting in? scripps is the only school i can actually see myself going to…

Better than me haha.

I would say you have an excellent chance. If you would consider playing basketball in college, see if you can get recruited by the Scripps coach. That should lock you in.

Scripps looks like a match for you. Your ACT is at the upper end of last year’s 25-75% range, and your cumulative GPA is above the admitted students’ average.

As a LAC, there’s a lot more than numbers to Scripps’ admissions process. I assume, based on your own vagueness, that you’ve had decent (but not particularly mind-blowing) involvement in your school and community. Given that, I’d still say “match.”

I’m curious as to why ijfri believes that recruitment would “lock you in” to an acceptance. I don’t know anything at all about the process, so I’m not disagreeing, but as a D3 school without a reputation for giving special consideration to athletes, it seems like a generous prediction. I guess that in combination with your other stats, recruitment would be a good ‘tipping factor’…maybe that’s what ijfri was suggesting. Sorry…again, not a disagreement at all, just wondering b/c I’m so clueless about the role of recruitment in Scripps’ admissions!

Point is: looks like a worthwhile shot. Good match. Good luck :)
